Yacht Charters in Folegandros

Most visitors come to peaceful Folegandros for the unspoilt island life. It is a small and rocky island between Sikinos and Milos, among the islands of the Cyclades. Boats dock in the small harbor of Karavostasis on the east coast. The cliff-fringed eastern part of the island, with its highest hill of 413 m is bare and arid; the western half is milder, with water from springs, and supports a modest terraced agriculture.

There are several good beaches to visit such as Agnali Beach, Agios Nikolaos, Livadaki and Agios Georgios. Although Folegandros has little in the way of toursit amenities or roads, it attracts more and more visitors each year - chiefly those in search of solitude close to nature.

Although largely unspoilt, there is a way to charter a yacht to explore its coasts. Part of the island of Cyclades,  those that would charter a yacht for Folegandros can find a charter base or marina, Kalamaki Marina or Alimos Yacht charter base , to ensure them of easy sailing experience. Kalamaki Marina is said to be the largest charter base in Greece and located 12 kilometres away from Athens centre at the south coast of Attica-Athens.

During the charter season it is a very busy place, but it is a public marina and services are a bit mediocre. Lately, it is better organized & clean enough, but one should not expect to get berth-guidance from the marina staff or phone/lines and internet connection. The facilities include Hot water showers and toilets at 80m distance from the yachts or less. Water and 220V power is available on the quay. Fuel is delivered on the quay by a car-tanker. A taxi stand is found within the marina, though is better you ask us to order one. ATM cash point is right across the main road opposite the West entrance of the marina and a few banks are located within 350 meters distance. An unguarded car parking area is available too.

There is no supermarket within the marina. You can either send the marina a provisioning list before you arrive and have everything brought directly to your boat or do your own shopping at the big-chain supermarket on the main street, on the Poseidonos Avenue. They can deliver things and lift to your yacht the things you shop. There is a variety of restaurants on and around the main road.  And within the marina area, A night-club is built within it.
