Yacht Charters in Paxos Island
Paxos Island is one of the smallest in the Ionian group of islands but one of the prettiest and loveliest. If you are on a luxury holidays chartering luxury yachts, this small island should be on your list. Paxos is small enough for tourists to take a tour of the whole island and yet very unexploited from mass tourism. It is still not as developed as the northern island of Corfu – it is less accessible to tourists which make a water vessel an important transportation in and out of the island.
The island has captivating landscape of olive and cypress trees with quaint little villages that truly possess its Greek ambiance. From the coast, you can truly admire its scenery along with the clear blue waters around you. Most tourists who come to this island are on chartered yachts looking for a private and secluded Greek destination.
The main port of the island is in its capital town of Gaios. Paxos has its unique entrance- you can enter the harbour by passing two isles – Panayia and St. Nicholas. And as you approach the harbour, you can see the White-washed monastery in Panayia as well as old churches of St. Nicholas Isle and a 15th century Venetian fortress.
The town is small, quiet and simply the perfect getaway to relax and unwind. The streets are of cobble stone and there is enough number of shops and tavernas to cater to your needs. Much more, the locals are very friendly. Popular sights in the town are the old churches of Agia Triada as well as a traditional olive press for their olive oil production.
If you want to spend your time in the beach, this island has plenty of beaches of soft sands and crystal clear waters. But if you want to swim in a beach with dramatic cliffs and caves as backdrops, head off to the western coast. This part of the island is only accessible by boats so, with luxury yachts you can truly have your own beach in Paxos Island.
