Either you are an experienced sailor and you will be willing to captain your boat, or you will rent a skippered boat and let the hard work on the hands of a crew. In either way, a sailing cruise requires a unique packing list.
Since the confort of your everyday life on a boat is quite important you should pay atttention on the items you will be willing to take with you on board .
Remember that, inside the boat the spaces are small and the placing of every item needs to be taken under consideration in order to offer you the most of its utility as well as not to get on your way.
Follow some of the basic rules:
- Pack the minimum possible
- Use soft rolled up bags for your clothing
- Store stuff securely
- Prepare your cooking and cleaning habits
A really important notification about the boat’s storage spaces :
Due to limited storage space on boats of all kinds, the boat’s spaces does not have place for big rectagular boxes. Dont attempt to put anything on boxes in order to carry it with you, cause you will be disappointed. Try bags instead that can be stored easier.
Dont forget:
- Passport/travel documents
- Sailing Gloves
- Boat Shoes (you can usually go barefoot on board)
Always good to pack for a sailing cruise:
- Backpack or Dry Bag for shore excursions
- Sandals and walking shoes
- 2 swim suits
- 3 pairs of shorts/skorts
- 4 t-shirts (you will probably buy some as souvenirs, too)
- Swim suit cover-up
- Eye care products
- Hat/ visor
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen and SPF lip balm
- Bug spray
- Prescription meds in original bottles
- Soothing lotion (aloe vera, noxema)
- Small sewing kit
- Flashlight/ batteries
- First aid kit
- Books/ magazines
- Dice/ cards, etc.
- Snorkel
- Camera / Waterproof disposable camera
- Journal/ notebook/ pen
- Small binoculars
Last and most important : A great amount of good spirits ! Get ready for unforgetable memories!
